Costa Rica franchise expo to be held in August

The Coasta Rican Chamber of Commerce is set to hold its second annual Expo Franchise exhibition on August 25 2011 in the Herradura Convention Centre.

The event is due to attract over 60 exhibiting companies and over 1000 visitors are expected to participate.

The aim of Expo Franchise is to establish a forum where companies interested in expanding their business can meet local and regional companies and individuals looking to set up a franchise. The event will include a range of conferences on topics such as: How to Chose and Buy a Franchise; Franchising Options for Setting up a Franchise; and Structuring your Company under the Franchise Model.

Franchisors looking to expand their brand can benefit from Costa Rica’s highly qualified workforce, the country’s strategic location in the Americas and the peaceful and democratic business environment.

The franchise industry in Costa Rica grew by 14 per cent in 2010 compared to the previous year. International brands represent 89 per cent of the total franchises established in the country. Franchises in the food and drink sector correspond to 24 per cent of all franchises in the country. Other important sectors are:

  • Fashion (such as apparel stores): 19 per cent
  • Hotels: 19 per cent
  • Health and beauty (such as gyms, beauty centres): 8 per cent
  • Car rentals: 8 per cent
  • Real estate agencies: 3 per cent
