Making the Global Connection

RLI launches RLI Connect, the world’s first global retail and leisure property deal-making forum

Held on June 5 2013 at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club, RLI Connect will provide the opportunity of facetime with key global retail and leisure decision makers.

To be held at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club, in London on 5 June, RLI Connect provides for the first time a sustained platform for doing business and building value through strategic partnerships, on a truly global scale.

RLI Connect has announced Sands Retail as Headline Sponsor for the event, alongside other industry players including Red Sea Mall as Silver Sponsor and BCSC, FDS Ltd, Global Retail Forum and Prism Group as Industry Partners.

Jayne Rafter, Publisher of RLI Magazine and Founder of RLI Connect, says: “Based on several recent conversations with developers, finding the right mix of retailers and leisure operators to fill their new and existing shopping malls is becoming one of the biggest challenges they face. They are looking for new and innovative concepts to enhance the shopping experience.

“Throughout my career I have always put a strong emphasis on face-to-face interaction to forge stronger synergistic relationships, and this is what RLI Connect will do.”

In her role as Publisher and founder of RLI Jayne has, over the past ten years, built up an enviable network of developers, investors and franchise partners with whom she enjoys close relationships and who rely on her help to introduce them to retailers and leisure operators, looking to expand their brands internationally – hence the launch of this new deal-making event.

Taking place on June 5 in London, the world’s international retail capital, the event will be held alongside the renowned Global RLI Awards on June 6, now in its eighth year and continuing to attract key global industry figures.

In these challenging times, achieving effective results demands a paradigm shift that can only be realised with exposure to new thoughts and ideas. RLI Connect will provide an unparalleled networking and deal-making forum, comprising of retailers, leisure operators, franchise partners, developers, owners, landlords, investors and brokers associated with the industry.

How do I take part?
If you are looking to lease space in a new or existing shopping centre, town centre, high street, outlet or transit schemes, you are eligible to book a meeting room package.

How does the meeting room package work?
All meeting room packages will be set up for you prior to you turning up for the event, personalised with your company name.

What do I need to prepare for the event?
In order for you to have a successful event it is essential that you planyour schedule in advance and research those retailers and leisure operators you wish to meet prior to the event. If you do not prearrange meetings you will not reap the benefits as retailers/leisure operators tend to organise their itineraries and have little or no time for additional meetings.

How do I arrange meetings with retailers and leisure operators?
You can do this through the online meeting system or you can contact retailers directly. RLI Connect can also assist you in introducing you to possible retailers/leisure operators and will liaise with you to ensure the smooth running of your day.

How do retailers hear of the event?
The RLI Connect team will be inviting retailers/leisure operators to attend the event, it will also be advertised each month in RLI, the world’s only global retail and leisure magazine, which is also circulated at every international event ensuring unprecedented awareness globally. E-shots will be sent out weekly and we will have a dedicated website to connect all registered delegates. Social Media will also enhance awareness through the following channels: LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and a dedicated blog.

RLI Connect aims to attract the largest number of actively growing retail and leisure concepts internationally, as well as the hottest up-and-coming concepts.

Just think, instead of weeks of impersonal emails and phone calls your goals can be accomplished in a single day, resulting in long-lasting, profitable relationships and that allimportant deal!

There will be no conference or panel sessions at the RLI Connect event, just a focused, high energy forum for networking and dealmaking, with the combination of moving existing deals along and being introduced to new deals, and the opportunity to collaborate and share knowledge with top performers in the retail and leisure real estate industry.

In these fast-paced markets, key players have an entrepreneurial opportunity to search for a best-fit match for their project, if you are ready, willing and able to do deals, then this is the event for you.
